I found a pin and reset the unit, and cancelled the software download as was wary of it trying to update the software in the middle of a firmware update I then restarted the software update and that proceeded successfully.

The firmware downloaded quickly and asked for the reset button to be pressed on the unit - meanwhile the software update was downloading. I agreed to both of these not realising at the time they were different. I resolved this by killing the process in Task Manager while the popup window was still open, then clicking Retry Connecting the unit to the new BCM it asked me to update the software and also the firmware. The process was slightly confusing as it wanted to simultaneously update 1 Becker Content Manager 2 Unit Firmware 3 Unit Software Using Windows XP when I started BCM it told me it needed to update to a newer version and would close and download it - but then got stuck in a loop where it said it couldn't update until I closed BCM, which there wasn't an option to do.
